Phishing is typically carried out by e-mail or instant messaging, and it often directs users to enter details at a fake website whose look and feel are almost identical to the legitimate one. Even when using server authentication, it may require tremendous skill to detect that the website is fake.

It is somewhat logical enough not to give your password to someone that ask for it, at least if you are not new to the online universe. But if you receive an email that looks like it is from Funcom stating that for one reason or another you need to change your password, or log into your account to get a free offer, and a link to a fake website that is identical to the real one, it is not always as easy. Especially since the address line can be manipulated to show something that looks very real. The way I usually do it is to never type in passwords in sites from email links, and only in links i type in myself, so I know it is the right one.
